Degy Impact Launches the Dr. Richard M. Nisman Educational Scholarship, Honoring the Father of Degy Entertainment's President & CEO
New scholarship will recognize outstanding Degy interns and help fund their education, launching on the 30th anniversary of Dr. Nisman's passing.
DELRAY BEACH, FL — Degy Impact, the nonprofit arm of Degy Entertainment, today announced the launch of the Dr. Richard M. Nisman Educational Scholarship, a new merit-based award created to recognize outstanding interns in the Degy internship program and help offset the cost of their education. The scholarship will be offered starting July 26, 2026, the 30th anniversary of Dr. Nisman's passing.
Dr. Richard Nisman was the father of Ari Nisman, President and CEO of Degy Entertainment. Naming the scholarship in his honor gives Degy a way to mark the milestone with purpose, by investing in students building their careers in the entertainment industry today.
A New Way to Recognize Degy's Interns
The scholarship is a merit-based recognition program initially awarding two scholarships per internship cohort, six annually, to interns who demonstrate exceptional dedication, professionalism, and contribution throughout their term. It is designed to help offset educational expenses tied to college credit, industry courses and certifications, conferences, and professional memberships.
The program is open to interns across Degy's current and future internship cohorts. Recipients are selected based on their performance, professionalism, and commitment throughout the internship, reflecting the same standards of excellence Dr. Nisman held throughout his own career.
Honoring a Life of Service
Dr. Nisman was a physician who started his medical career at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, where Ari was born. He moved to Richmond, VA and worked out of the Medical College of Virginia, before settling at the Jersey Shore. Dr. Nisman started his practice as a leading Gastroenterologist at Community Memorial Hospital in Toms River, Point Pleasant and Brick Hospitals. He later founded and served as CEO of Nisman Investment Services until his death in 1996.
Beyond his medical and financial careers, he was known for his deep commitment to his community, serving as a fundraising chairman for Community Medical Center, a board member of Solomon Schechter Academy, and an active volunteer with the Toms River Little League, among many other civic and charitable roles. Shortly before his passing, Dr.. Nisman created the Hilda Lubcher Memorial Lecture (named after Ari’s grandmother). This fundraising, speaker series provided incredible resources for educational endeavors and featured Henry Kissinger, Barbara Bush, Dr. Ruth, Eli Wiesel, Peter Yarrow, and many other prominent world figures.
For Ari Nisman, his father remains one of the greatest inspirations behind his own work ethic and his approach to building Degy Entertainment. The Dr. Richard M. Nisman Educational Scholarship carries that same spirit of service and dedication forward, into the next generation of entertainment professionals coming through Degy's doors.

He would probably ask me to call it something else, since he never liked the spotlight for his charitable work, but I know he would be overwhelmed seeing it support the educational journeys of our interns." said Ari Nisman, President and CEO of Degy Entertainment.
